SUMMARY:ATLytiCS Presents! January 11\, 2022
DESCRIPTION:January 11 ATLytiCS Presents! features Bill Franks\, internationally recognized thought leader\, speaker\, and author will discuss ethics in data science.\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nATLytiCS Presents! is a guest speaker and panel series to explore issues surrounding data and the common good. \nAs more and more data is being collected\, concerns are constantly being raised about what data is appropriate to collect and how (or if) it should be analyzed. There are many ethical\, privacy\, and legal issues to consider and no clear standards exist in many cases as to what is fair and what is foul. This means that organizations must consider their own principles and risk tolerance in order to implement the right policies. This talk will cover a range of ethical\, privacy\, and legal issues that surround data science today. It will frame the big questions to consider while providing some of the tradeoffs and ambiguities that must be addressed to answer those questions. \n\n\n\n\n  \nPlease click HERE to register. \n  \nTo learn more about ATLytiCS and our future data projects with non-profits:\nVisit our website: atlytics.org\nFollow us on LinkedIn\nFollow us on Twitter\nFollow us on Facebook

SUMMARY:Lunch and Learn - Pressing Issues Related to our Infrastructure
DESCRIPTION:Join ATLytiCS for a lunch-and-learn series as we dive into critical issues impacting vulnerable populations in Atlanta. In these webinars\, we’ll show how data-driven insights can help identify possible solutions in the Atlanta community.  \nMetro Atlanta has a diverse population across the entire socioeconomic spectrum. With the fast-changing demographics\, the most vulnerable may be getting left behind.  \nOn September 17th\, we’ll focus on some of the most pressing issues related to our infrastructure.\n \n\nMaintaining Regional Water Planning and Stewardship – Securing a clean\, abundant water supply is vital to the Atlanta region’s economic future. This is critically important as metro Atlanta continues to grow. The Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District\, staffed by ARC\, forecasts the 15-county region will add nearly 3 million people by 2050.\nPreparing for Autonomous and Connected Vehicles – Transportation technology is changing rapidly. Cutting-edge advancements are headed our way\, experts say\, such as self-driving vehicles\, “smart” signals that optimize traffic flow\, and connected cars that “talk” to each other and avoid collisions.\n\nThis lunch and learn series will be online exclusively and participants will be given a zoom link to join. You can find the link on our MeetUp page. \nTo learn more about ATLytiCS and our future projects:\nVisit our website: atlytics.org\nFollow us on LinkedIn\nFollow us on Twitter\nFollow us on Facebook

SUMMARY:Lunch and Learn - Preparing the Workforce for Today and the Future
DESCRIPTION:Join ATLytiCS for a lunch-and-learn series as we dive into critical issues impacting vulnerable populations in Atlanta. In these webinars\, we’ll show how data-driven insights can help identify possible solutions in the Atlanta community.  \nMetro Atlanta has a diverse population across the entire socioeconomic spectrum. With the fast-changing demographics\, the most vulnerable may be getting left behind.  \nOn September 10th\, we’re focused on preparing the workforce for today and the future. \n\nImproving Educational Outcomes – Improving readiness for college and career is critical to the region’s future. The Atlanta region must work to improve elementary-grade reading skills\, which are key to long-term student success\, and also take advantage of the state’s expanding technical college system to better meet the needs of today’s employers.\nMatching Available Jobs and Qualified Workers – The Atlanta region is a leader in jobs growth\, but too many good jobs are going unfilled. More than half of the advertised jobs in the region require at least a bachelor’s degree\, while only 35% of residents over age 25 meet that requirement. At the same time\, some residents aren’t getting the skills needed to land a well-paying job.\nPlanning for Increasing Automation in the Workforce – The Atlanta region is one of the fastest-growing in the nation\, but the long-term economic success of a large segment of our population is uncertain because of the rise of automation in the workplace.\n\nThis lunch and learn series will be online exclusively and participants will be given a zoom link to join. You can find the link on our MeetUp page. \n\nTo learn more about ATLytiCS and our future projects:\nVisit our website: atlytics.org\nFollow us on LinkedIn\nFollow us on Twitter\nFollow us on Facebook
