Data for Hope™ 2019: The Fight Against Human Trafficking

ATLytiCS Data for Hope™ 2019 Awards at SDSC

ATLytiCS partnered with the FBI and the NPOs The Table on Delk, Street Grace, and Tapestri for our 2019 Data for Hope™ competition where participants were challenged to use data to better understand human trafficking and expose the meaning, extent, and impact of human trafficking on the community.

The community question was broad allowing teams to look into different facets of the available data. Analyses included comparing types of trafficking, researching gender differences, modeling factors that relate to human trafficking drivers, among others. Results were shared with the FBI and our non-profit partners.

Twelve teams participated in the three day hackathon. The Southern Data Science Conference sponsored the awards ceremony recognizing the two winning teams. Prize money was thanks to our sponsors: OmniSci, Qlik, and Catalina.
