ATLytiCS launches its inaugural Data for Hope™ Education Program cohort

ATLytiCS is pleased to announce the launch of its Data for Hope™ Education Program.  This equips individuals that are traditionally underrepresented in analytics with the tools needed to obtain a career in the analytics space.

The inspiration for the program comes from one of ATLytiCS’ recent projects focusing on top factors impacting Metro Atlanta.  Over the course of the project, ATLytiCS showed that much of Atlanta’s vulnerable populations don’t have access to training and opportunities within the analytics space. This impacts their ability to access many of the socioeconomic opportunities that exist within Atlanta. With ATLytiCS’ community and knowledge base, we’re in a unique position to help upskill these communities. Melissa Ngamini and Jennifer Owens led a team of volunteers in creating an Education Program to address this problem and provide a solution.

Over the 12 week course, the cohort will learn data analysis, data querying, data visualization, and data storytelling.  During the second half of the program, students will complete a capstone project demonstrating their newly learned skills. Near the conclusion of their classes, students will be paired with mentors to assist them as they transition into analytics careers.

In partnership with DataCamp Donates, ATLytiCS will also be offering additional training to the students to continue their analytics growth and self-learning journey throughout the next 12 months.
